Argentina, Brazil and Mexico place their be ton the Havana Film Festival.

Argentina , Brazil and Mexico headed again this year the bets for the Coral awards of the Havana International Latin American New Film Festival by sending between the three of them more than half of the 1385 movies subscribed for the contest.

From this total of movies, the organizers will make a final selection.

According to the organizing committee of the twenty eighth edition of the meeting, Cuba and Chile with a hundred and sixty nine movies, respectively, complete the list of the countries with the greatest number of pieces sent to the event, which will take place between the 5 and the 15 of next December.

The Havana Festival will announce soon the titles of the movies that will compete in the traditional categories of Fiction, Documentaries, Animation and First Work.

Last year there were a total of more than five hundred movies screened, out of the almost 1400 movies sent to the organizing committee of the contest. As it has been normal since its first edition in 1979, the movies from Argentina , Brazil and Mexico are the majority as well as the targets of a great number of Corals. Around 103 movies from more than ten countries competed during last edition of the Havana Festival.

According to reports, the organizers of the movie event have added to the program of the twenty eighth meeting a new category, that of Experimental Cinema that widens the access of the Cuban public to the international cinematographic scope. Retrospectives from the Italian Manuele Cecconello, the Canadian Philip Hoffman and the North American Dominic Angerame will inaugurate this first season of experimental cinema which will also include the work of other foreign producers.
