Ciénaga de Zapata (Zapata Swamp) is a humble and caring community where life takes on charm through the work of its inhabitants, who’ve been able to create a harmonious and warm environment, enriched, for the last twenty years, by the presence of the Korimakao Artistic Troupe.
That is the main mission of the Conjunto Artístico Comunitario Korimakao (Korimakao Community Artistic Troupe), founded two decades ago by Cuban artist Manuel Porto in the Ciénaga de Zapata swamp (Matanzas province), the site where U.S. imperialism suffered its first great defeat in the Americas.
